Travellers' Cheques

Lost or stolen cash can mean an early end to any vacation or business trip. Unlike cash, lost or stolen Travellers Cheques can be replaced with a single telephone call - usually within 24 hours. They are the safe way to protect yourself against the hassle and inconvenience of losing cash and are widely accepted at banks, hotels and business establishments and shops, both in Australia and around the world.
Let us know your travellers cheques needs and we'll advise you the current exchange rate and the cost in Australian dollars. Payment can be arranged by debiting your Credit Union account, or we can draw the funds from your account with any other Australian financial institution. Most travellers cheques orders will be delivered to your home or work address, at no cost to you, within 24 hours.
Travellers' cheques are available in a range of currencies, including United States dollars and English pounds. The currency you select will vary according to your travel destination. The following guide should help, however Travellers’ Cheques are available in other currencies so please check with our member services staff.

Sending Money Overseas

If you need to send money overseas we have several options to suit your needs.

Telegraphic Transfers

Telegraphic transfers are an easy way to send large amounts of money overseas quickly. Through our partnership with American Express, you are able to send payments to most countries in the world in over 100 different currencies.
A normal transfer takes between 48 and 72 hours. This enables you to respond to a special deal or financial agreement swiftly, efficiently and with confidence.

  How do they work?
In simple terms, a telegraphic transfer transmits funds electronically to an overseas bank account in a specified currency. Funds are deposited directly into the payee's bank account where they can be easily accessed by the payee.
  Why use a Telgraphic transfer?
  • You get certainty about when the payment was received
  • Payments can be made between local and overseas organisations or people
  • You can send a payment in most major currencies
  • Generally faster than drafts
  • They are an economical and secure way of sending a large amount of money overseas

International Bank Drafts

If you have no time constraints, are happy using mail and don't need the funds to go directly into an account, then a Draft is a good option for you. Very similar to a cheque, an international draft is a simple solution for sending money overseas.

  • Safe and secure
  • Affordable way to send money for any occasion
  • The recipient of the draft can bank straight into their own account
  How do they work?
A Draft is like a bank cheque made out in a foreign currency. It's an easy and affordable way for you to make payments or settle a transaction overseas.
